Purchasing Cattle Shares (Boxes) from Carlson Ranch 

At Carlson Ranch, we offer high-quality cattle raised on our 101-acre farm in Clackamas County, Oregon. Buy a share of a live cow and enjoy farm-fresh beef processed just for you! Here’s how it works:

•  You Own the Animal Before Slaughter: Purchase a share of a live animal by placing your order and paying in advance. Ownership transfers to you before the animal is harvested, keeping it a live animal sale.

•  Custom Processing for Your Personal Use: Your animal is delivered to a licensed custom-exempt slaughter facility, where it’s processed. The meat is labeled “Not for Sale” for your household use, per Oregon law (ORS 603). 

•  We Handle Pickup as Your Agent: As a courtesy, we retrieve your packaged beef from the processor and make it available for pickup at our ranch or deliver it to your address within the state of Oregon. We act solely as your agent, not a meat distributor, and do not process, store, or own the meat.

•  Flexible Share Sizes: You will be purchasing a live animal share that will make up the amount of the share you are purchasing. 

•  Transparency & Compliance: All cattle have IDs for traceability. We follow Oregon regulations to ensure a legal, hassle-free process. You’re responsible for the safety and storage of your meat after receipt.

Important: By purchasing, you agree that Carlson Ranch is not liable for the quality, safety, or condition of the processed beef, which is handled by the custom-exempt facility. The meat is for personal use only and cannot be resold. You indemnify Carlson Ranch from any claims related to the purchase, processing, transport, or consumption of the beef.
